![]() ![]() ![]() Plot-wise, The Whiz Mob and the Grenadine Kid introduces readers to Charlie Fischer, the bored son of a diplomat, who is living with his father in 1960s France. Not only do the illustrations in The Whiz Mob and the Grenadine Kid not disappoint, neither does its story. This led me to discover that she illustrated a fantasy trilogy, penned by The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy, called the Wildwood Chronicles as well as this novel also penned by Meloy. ![]() I admired Carson Ellis’ work as the illustrator for the first novel in The Mysterious Benedict Society series, so I decided to search for more of her work. But there are a few times when it’s the illustrator who draws my attention (pun sort of intended!). Most of the time, a book crosses my reading radar because of the author or type of story. ![]()
